What a Great New York Trip!

I spent about 3 days and nights with Robert and his older sister Brandy.  His sister really showed us a great time!

Thursday night - Robert and I arrived.  Ordered sushi and had it delivered to Brandy's place  I really like endemame and shrimp tempera roll.

On our way up to New York - I'm trying to make a NY with my fingers.

Friday afternoon - While Robert's sister was at work, Robert and I walked through Central Park, got lunch, got yogurt icecream with strawberry, blueberry, and lychee from "Pinkberry," a place I kept hearing about, dropped off a letter for one of Robert's friend, looked around Macy's, and walked around Time Square.  I hate Time Square!

Time Square

Friday night - Brandy treated us to a Jets game!  We had some frustrating problems getting the tickets, but in the end we had a great time.  10th row, never been so up close at a football game.  Robert and I ate SO MUCH:  italian sausage sandwiches, hot dogs, nachoes, fries, and chicken tenders.

Guess who we saw?  Fox Sports crew - Terry Bradshaw and Jimmie Johnson
(I don't know the rest.)

Pennington and Coles

Saturday morning/afternoon - A big day!  We had a truly New York style bagel at H&H.  So good I didn't need cream cheese to eat it.  Then drove 1 1/2 hrs to Penn. to go SKY DIVING!  Yes, sky diving!  At about 3 pm, the three of us were falling from the sky, approximately 13,000+ ft from the air.  The whole fall took about 6 minutes.  It was AMAZING!  Robert looked so funny in his tight neon green suit.  Hahaha!  We highly recommend it!  If Robert can do, so can YOU!

Unfortunately, no pictures...

Saturday night - Stuck in NY traffic for a few hours on our way back, but we were able to eat a great dinner and catch our show, The Lion King on broadway.  We ate at Smith & Wollensky.  I was craving ribs and their ribs were so good.  The Lion King was one of the most creative, artistic, and engaging shows I've seen.  Two thumbs up!

Rob and his sis.

Cheers!

Great show!  Hakuna Matata means no worries...

Sunday morning - Headed home on the Greyhound.

I would never live in New York but what a great place to have fun!

Good News!

I will post the short version and the long version.

SHORT VERSION:

I’m engaged!

LONG VERSION:

Robert came up to NoVa for the weekend.  He told me he was heading back to Charlottesville after his family’s Father’s Day dinner on Sunday.  He pretty much convinced me that he drove back to Charlottesville.  We were even on the phone at one point and he was like, "Hey, can I call you back in a few minutes?  I'm almost at my apartment and I want to unpack."  I’ve also been substitute teaching long term for a 2nd grade classroom and yesterday was my last day of school.  It was only 2 ½ hours long.  After most of the students left, I see Robert walk in.  I was so shocked.  Robert said I had a look of disgust on my face, but it was a look of shock.  I was like, “What are you doing here?”  He told me he wanted to surprise me and take me out to lunch.  Even at this point, I didn’t suspect anything.  I thought he was treating me out since he knew I had a stressful few months at school.

Side note:  Robert’s been planning a trip to New York in August and I was so sure he was going to propose to me then.  He never plan trips!  So, why would he unless it was for something special??  Robert said that was his decoy.

Unfortunately for Robert, I had a lot to do in the classroom after the students left and people were hanging around in the classroom (He wanted to propose to me in the classroom).  I had him help me clean up too.  Anyway, we finally left the school and walked to my car to go somewhere to eat.  In my car, Robert suddenly pulls out this:

The quote on the bottom is from my favorite book and author:

“Stupid men are the only ones worth knowing after all”

 -Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

HAHAHAHA

This was a chronological story of our relationship (21 pages).  It was pretty funny.  This is the first page:

Here’s another funny page:

So, I’m enjoying the book still not really suspecting anything.  THEN, I come to the 3rd to last page:

I’m very shocked when I read this page.  Then, the next page is a sappy letter from Robert.  Robert doesn’t like it that I call his letter sappy.  Here it is:

As I am reading this letter, which by the way, makes me cry, he comes around, opens my door (remember, we’re in my car), gets on one knee, says “I love you” for the first time, and proposes.  I said “yes.”

Here are some pictures we took afterwards:

the book and the ring

I got my dog in on it too! BTW, that shiny ring is my UVA ring.

A few minutes before peeing my dog.  We're waiting for the mailman to go away, so that my dog doesn't bite him.  What an awesome looking dog!

Of course a couplely picture.

Testing out the "blinginess" of the ring.  Passed the test.

Getting ready to meet Robert's parents.

Robert really likes this picture.

Thanks for all the congrats!!  It's a joy to share this great moment with you all~

Wednesday, January 24, 2007

Sorry folks!  I don't think I'm going to put any pictures up for this entry.  I'm just too stinkin lazy.

My life has been moving along.  Much has happened...
  •  I'm done with school! (Then again, I'm going to be a teacher for the rest of my life.)
  • As of today, I will be working as a substitute teacher in Fairfax County.
  • I was also hired for a full-time teaching position for next fall.
  • My dog bit one of my good friends on the arm.  It was pretty bad.  We're still friends though.    However, it's been even harder to convince people how truly cute and lovable he is.
  • I'm going to volunteer at the Sanctity of Life Ministry pregnancy center.
  • Been watching a lot of TV.  Old and new favorite shows:  The Office, Everybody Loves Raymond, House, Heroes, Friends, Good Eats, Home Improvement
  • Bought my 4th wedding magazine.  It was kind of disappointing though.  Don't be scared Robert.
  • Listening to Matt Redman's new CD The Beautiful News
  • New favorite Starbucks drink:  Cinnamon Dolce Latte
  • Enjoying the book Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky
  • Met up with friends.  Glad to have spent time with them, especially the ones I haven't seen for a while.
Words that I want to change me:
"I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.  For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."
(Philippians 1:20-21)

Until next time.
